Behind Closed Doors in Paris: March Apartment & Walk Special

Walking along the streets of Paris, you may have had the chance to peak into an open building doorway, surprised to find a
whole other world tucked inside an austere building facade; beautifully tiled foyers, vine covered courtyards or secret private mansions.

Our friend, Erica Berman, owner of Haven in Paris and creator of the HIP Paris Blog recently gave us an insider look at some of Paris’ best kept apartment secrets. Experience this for yourself with our joint Paris in the Springtime apartment rental and walk special – see details below!

Q.: What advice could you give to someone who’s decided to stay in a rental apartment instead of a hotel?

A.: One of the great things about staying in an apartment is discovering a neighborhood and living as a local. We have apartments in the different central areas of Paris, but it is also nice to get to know an area a little off the tourist circuit. Montmartre is a bit of an original place to stay. While tourists come up to see Sacre Coeur, few stay here and, once you get off the main touristy streets, the area is a real Parisian neighborhood with great shops and restaurants and in general the perfect place to feel like a local. We have several apartments in Montmartre, but the Livingston Apartment, which is a brightly-lit penthouse with an spectacular view of the rooftops of Paris and Sacre Coeur.

Q.: What are a few other apartments that have a hidden or original characteristic about them?

A.: All of our apartments are special… but one that has particular hidden charm is Elzevir Apartment, which is in a historic hotel particulier, overlooking a lovely cobblestoned interior courtyard with plants, right in the heart of the Marais district. I also really like our Paul Louis Courier, which is also in a fantastic neighborhood, close to excellent food shops and boutiques, and has a wonderful balcony … and three bathrooms, a real rarity in Paris!  Nearby is the Servandoni apartment which is also pretty unique, especially due to its spectacular terrace.

Q.: What is the most unique property you’ve seen hidden behind closed doors in Paris?

A.: That’s hard to say! I would say it’s a toss up between our Lacepede penthouse, which has an ultra-modern designer decor and an amazing rooftop terrace and the Luxury Loft, which is hidden in an inner courtyard in the heart of the trendy Montorgueil district, the perfect balance of modernity, Parisian character and class.
